This wax burr set by Technique™ offers a diverse range of head shapes and sizes, and are an essential tool when creating wax models of jewellery pieces before being cast into metal.

Used in conjunction with rotary tools such as micromotors or flexi shafts, these burrs are used to carve, texturise, contour and refine wax models with intricate details, such as filigree work and gemstone settings.

Each burr is made from Tungsten Vanadium, a resilient metal that is hardened to ensure precise cutting durability and longevity. Designed to operate at low speeds, these burrs deliver reliable performance over prolonged periods.

Burr Shapes and Uses:

• Knife-Edge Burrs: Tapered on the top and bottom, ideal for scoring lines and removing supports and structures from resins.
• Hart Burrs: Perfect for flush setting and cutting seats in prongs as well as cutting channels. They offer versatility as their sides can be utilised like a flywheel to score lines.
• Pear Burrs: Used for trimming, finishing and rounding edges.
• Egg Burrs: Used to remove material from rounded slots and holes.
• Oval Burrs: help remove excess material smoothly and efficiently. Used for smoothing oblong slots and holes.
• Long Bud Burr:Used to taper, contour and enlarge holes, relocate holes, and perform a number of stone setting tasks.
• Inverted Cone Burrs: Make flat bottomed undercuts, cut tapered slots, and start seats in irregularly shaped bezels; clean inside bezels and channel settings, and for texturing.
• Cylinder Burrs: Great for grinding and shaping the inside of ring shanks.
• Round Cylinder Burrs: For use on curved surfaces and slots, and round-bottom holes and slots.
• Bud Burrs: Gently curved taper that comes to a point. Similar to a cone burr, they may be used to taper and enlarge holes, as well as stone setting tasks.
• Wheel Burrs: Ideal for removing material from a bezel to make room for a cabochon, wheel burs have cutting flutes on their tops and sides.
• Cup Burrs: Excellent for rounding and smoothing prongs, posts, wire and rivet heads. These burs have a cross-cut that aids in cutting metal discharge and prevents clogging.
• Round Burrs: Can be used at any angle and can easily get into narrow spaces. Ideal for drilling, deburring holes, expanding holes, carving recesses for sweat soldering, and refining bezels/seats for stone setting.

To keep the burrs sharper fo longer, we advise using a lubricant such as Blade & Burr Lubricant –
