Metric Tap And Die Set

Description

Taps and dies are invaluable workshop tools for cutting internal and external screw threads.

This metric tap and die set contains a tap wrench, 9 dies of varying sizes, 9 tapered taps and 9 ‘plug’ style taps, along with two circular jigs for fitting taps into the tap wrench.

A tap (for cutting internal screw threads) is fitted into the tap wrench by using one of the circular jigs provided and then slowly turned into a pre-drilled hole just smaller than the diameter of the tap.

The object or bolt containing the hole should be secured in a vice. This will start the threading process.

It is recommended to use a cutting lubricant such as Burr Life to aid the threading process.
