Durston Pancake Die, Rhombus 23mm X 20mm

Description

Durston Pattern Plates are designed to cut shapes from non ferrous metal with ease using this Pancake/Pattern Die made from quality hardened steel.

Simply slide your metal into the die, so you can see it through “the window”, make sure it is pushed through enough so that it cuts instead of pulling the metal through (your metal must cover the entire die) put into your press (window side down) with support on top and press your shape out.

Note – this works better with metal that has NOT been annealed.

With smaller shapes like these you may need to tape your metal to the die so that is does not move when cutting.

Getting your shapes out of the die may prove difficult, if so turn the die upside down and place the edge on a work surface, then cup your hand to collect the piece and tap with a mallet ().

Some designs may create sharp edge or extra metal may be left after the cut, simply snip off and file, take care when smoothing these edges as they can cut the skin.

We recommend using these dies with the Durston Planishing Press . Alternatively you could use a hydraulic press such asOR , these are much larger presses, but as long as it covers the die completely so that an even firm pressure can be applied you will achieve you perfect cut.

This die can cut metal up to a thickness of 1mm, depending on press power.
