Description

This Durston Hexagon Wooden Mandrel has been precision turned to offer the ideal surface for shaping and forming in a variety of materials.

Made from hardwood, this smooth hexagon mandrel allows you to create perfectly flat surfaces with angles, ideal for hoop earrings, bangles, bracelets and pendants when used in conjunction with a mallet or by wire wrapping.

Not only is it suitable for forming soft metals such as; silver, gold, brass, copper and aluminium, it is also useful when working with thermoplastics such as acrylic.

To use, secure in a vice or steady between the bench and your body before shaping your bangle with a hammer or mallet. Care should be taken to keep surfaces clean, as marks can be transferred to the surface of the formed metal or plastic.

Please note; due to the nature of the material, this mandrel will mark if struck with force using a steel hammer or nylon mallet. Care must be taken so as not to damage the surface. We would recommend using a softer mallet such as Rawhide ().
