These Castaldo Mould Frames are the ideal housing protection for the jewellery model you want to replicate.

Creating a mould for your jewellery item is a time-saving solution, in a fast paced industry with demand for quick turn around.

Cold moulding or RTV (room temperature vulcanising) such as this is generally used for natural materials and wax CAD CAM models as vulcanising would apply too much heat and pressure for them to take.

Made from 2 strong clear plastic plates and an aluminium frame, with 4 heavy duty industrial elastic bands to keep the frame together, they offer a neat and protected area to create your cold mould.

Due to the plates being made of plastic they pose no threat of shattering and cutting your hands like a glass plate might and being held together with bands, makes them easier to take apart after drying to release your mould creation.

To use:

• Mix your cold mould solution – many solutions are in two parts that need to be measured accurately
• Vacuum the solution to remove any large air bubbles
• Attach the sprue of your model to the sprue support at the bottom of the frame using wax such as () and a heated electric pen such as (999 BAH)
• When secure in centre, put the plastic sheets either side and pull over the elastic bands to hold in place
• Pour in your solution; Please note – solution should not be poured directly onto the model, keep to the sides and do not fill to the top but make sure the model sits at least halfway up your mould)
• Vacuum your mould again to ensure that the remaining air bubbles have been pulled out, the liquid will rise and fall again before you are ready to inspect the liquid for large bubbles
• Once vacuumed you can leave over night to cure
• Once dry you can simply remove bands to release your mould and gently pull sprue from it’s support
• Ensure that your mould is secured before cutting with a sharp scalpel blade (please seek advice before attempting this)

These frames make moulds from 46.7mm (1 7/8″) up to 135mm (5 1/4″)high.
