This reliable and powerful carbon kit, is lightweight, compact and precise and has excellent thermal conductivity.

The MX2 electronic control box has 2 outputs, which controls the micromotor or nanomotor, the handpieces and the pedal.

All of the connections are situated on the front panel for easier mobility.

The MX2 unit itself can reach 30,000 rpm, although different handpieces will determine what speed the tool will rotate at. It features a OLED screen for a higher resolution of viewing for monitoring the speed of your micromotor.

There are two motors supplied with this kit, the strong micromotor (RS2000) which runs at 2,000rpm up to 20,000rpm with a torque of 24.7cNm (180w) and the nanomotor (RS3000) which runs at 1,500rpm up to 12,500rpm with a torque of 15.5cNm (90w).

Engineered for minimal noise and a compact footprint, perfect for any jeweller’s workspace.

This kit is supplied with the strong micromotor (RS2000) which has a wide body, a high torque of 24.7 cNm (centre meters newton) and speed up to 20,000rpm, and is particularly useful for applying pressure to work when drilling or for heavy duty tasks such as polishing and reshaping, where substantial power and torque are required.

And the lighter nanomotor which has a thinner body and supplies lower torque (15,5 cNm) and higher speed (up to 12,500rpm), the RS3000SP (999 BA90) is ideal for more delicate jewellery.

Taking it one step further (not included in the kit), for watchmaking you would require the RS3000V (999 BA89) with higher speed but even less torque (11.3cNm),this motor is the smallest motor and is perfect for very intricate work as it doesn?t remove as much metal.

All of the motors have a soft and flexible cord that will easily attach to the control box.

There is also a Reduction Gear Nano – 400 included I this kit () which is for use with the nano hammer handpieces to reduce the RPM by 1/4 of their rpm, for example allowing you to change the 518C into a 528.

This versatile kit also comes with two handpieces, the 465 rotary handpiece (20,000rpm and 24.7cNm) which is like a normal quick change handpiece for 2.35mm drills and burrs and the 518C hammer handpiece (2,000 -12,000rpm), which gives an up and down motion perfect for mandrels (999 BA70) to polish the inside of rings.

The 518 series of handpieces come in 3 different stroke strengths:

• 518C: is the most powerful
• 518SP: is a medium strength ()
• 518USP: is the slowest strength (runs at 2,000 -20,000rpm)

However, you can also reduce these strokes further by adding the Reduction Gear Nano – 400 (), which reduces speed by 1/4 (500 – 3,125 rpm) meaning if you were to add this to your 518C handpiece it would become exactly the same as a 528 series with a much slower stroke, creating a hit by hit motion, easier to use when working on more delicate pieces.

All the handpieces are very easy to use, by twisting the silver part of the body you can release the drill bit or burr you are using (these would need to be 3/32″ or 2.35mm) swap out with your replacement and then twist the silver part again to tighten.

When unscrewed, you will observe that this filer handpiece has a widened skirt, allowing it to attach to a strong micromotor. In contrast, the Nano handpieces do not have this feature, clearly indicating which handpieces are compatible with each motor. These handpieces are not interchangeable.

The collar of each handpiece also has its name engraved to make it easier to identify which tool you are using.

The unit can either be screwed onto the MX Foot provided (which is shaped in an X shape to provide stability) an then the unit can then be fixed to a bench or it can be inserted into the bench directly.

The final item in the kit is the foot pedal, PC800, this provides variable speed control and allows for hands-free operation.

This set has been assembled so that you have all that will need to get going, however other rotary, hammer and filer handpieces and accessories are available.
