Gold Filled Safety Chain With Magnetic Clasp 40mm

This 14ct Gold Filled Safety Chain features a clasp, which fastens via a magnet in each hemisphere of the clasp. It is perfect to use with a variety of necklace and bracelet designs and interchangeable jewellery, as the clasp provides a secure hold, yet opens and closes easily. This makes it ideal for those who have difficulty using regular clasps. A safety chain provides an extra precautionary measure. Simply attach to your existing jewellery design via the two end loops.

Gold filled jewellery is also known as rolled gold or gold bonded and is created by mechanically bonding a layer of gold to a layer of base metal – usually brass. The outer gold layer must be at least 1/20 of the overall metal content by weight. Therefore it makes a great alternative to gold plating, which is thinner and less durable.

The total length of this component is 40mm.

Please note that care should be taken when soldering magnetic clasps, as excessive heat can cause the magnetic properties to fail. Any heat applied to the clasp should be kept away from the centre of the clasp as this can cause damage to the magnets inside.
