Gold Filled Oval Lobster Trigger Clasp Catch With Ring 8mm

This 14ct Gold Filled Trigger Clasp is oval and has a rounded baroque style body, in comparison to our lobster clasp which has a flat body. Trigger clasps, or Carabiners as they’re alternatively known as, are a popular choice of clasp in jewellery making to fasten chains in necklace and bracelet designs. The clasp is opened and closed with the aid of a spring ‘trigger’ component. A loop is featured at the one end, ready to be attached to your chain or jump ring. This simple but sturdy clasp is subtle and will not detract attention from your jewellery designs.

Gold filled jewellery is also known as rolled gold or gold bonded and is created by mechanically bonding a layer of gold to a layer of base metal – usually brass. The outer gold layer must be at least 1/20 of the overall metal content by weight. Therefore it makes a great alternative to gold plating, which is thinner and less durable.

Unlike gold plated metal, gold filled can be soldered using 9ct or 14ct gold easy solder.

These are finished with a 22ct yellow gold flash plating to ensure a uniform colour across all pieces.
